Spyware/Adware List

If you happen across any of these programs on your computer, it's a sign that you computer has spyware/adware on it.  This programs in becoming more and more of a problem each day.  Some of these programs are extremely difficult to remove and keep removed from your computer.  These guys are getting really sneaky in how they get this software into your computer.

Any program you download that wants you to install some kind of add-on "Search Bar" in Internet Explorer is usually not a good idea.  Google, MSN and Yahoo toolbars are acceptable.  I know the wonderful Weatherbug program is now offering the "MySearch" toolbar.  DO NOT install it if you install Weatherbug.  Make sure you uncheck the box before continuing.  Precision Time and Date Manager are two more common programs that need to be removed.  Check in the Add / Remove list from the Control Panel and attempt to remove programs before trying anything else.

I recommend downloading the Cleanup program I use to get rid of Temporary Internet Files, Temp Files and other unnecessary files from your computer before running the Ad-Aware programs.  Instructions on where to download and install the Cleanup program can

be found here. Cleanup If you don't have an icon that looks like then you don't have the program.  It's a simple tool to clean these files quickly.  Run it once a week or so to keep your computer clean.  The first time you run the program, it might take several minutes to complete.  It will then show you a log and show the estimated space saved.  Don't be alarmed by the commode flushing sound the program makes when it begins.

If you haven't downloaded Ad-Aware 6.0, I highly recommend it.  There is a configuration file that explains on how to configure it before use.
