Hijack This Registry Scanner

Hijack This is a spyware/adware scanner that scans the Windows Registry for BHO's (Browser Helper Objects - toolbars, buttons, etc).  The Registry is what stores all the information about Windows and is more less the brains of Windows.  If the Registry file is altered in a wrong way, it can damage your system and could render it inoperable.

Follow the instructions below for downloading and installing the program.

Download Hijack This

Save the file to your hard drive.
Save to any folder you like, preferably My Documents or Desktop
Go to where you saved the file.
Double-click on the hijackthis.exe
Unzip to default folder - C:\Program Files\Hijack This
Close out of Winzip Self-Extractor
Click on Start
My Computer (or My Computer icon if it's on the Desktop)
C:
Program Files
Hijack This
Right click on Shortcut to Hijack This
Left click on Copy
Close all windows and get back to the Desktop
Right-click on the Desktop
Left-click on Paste

You should have Shortcut to Hijack This on the Desktop

Close all open Internet Explorer windows
Double-click on Shortcut to Hijack This
Click on Scan (DO NOT CHECK ANYTHING IN THE LIST YET)
Click on Save Log
Save to any folder you like, preferably My Documents or Desktop
Exit out of Hijack This.

DO NOT CHECK ANYTHING IN THE LIST WHILE HIJACK THIS IS OPEN.  YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU DELETE SOMETHING THAT WINDOWS NEEDS TO OPERATE!

I CANNOT BE HELP RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS THAT ARISE IF SOFTWARE CONFIGURATIONS ARE ALTERED WITHOUT PROPER INSTRUCTIONS.

Send me and email and attach the hijackthis.log.  I'll see if I can see anything out of the ordinary and give you instructions on how to delete it.
